14-11 Drukkerij Jo Vandenbulcke sponsors the three point contest

The well known printing house Jo Vandenbulcke will this year sponsor the much appreciated three point contest. This contest takes place on December 27th, in the evening, on all the game sites. 14-11 Netherlands U17 is participant number 8 in Girls U18

Today we can announce the participation of the national girls team U17 from the Netherlands in the Altia Belgacom X-Mas Tournament. This talented group, coached by the well known Meindert Van Veen, will be a tough challenger for the national teams of Belgium and England in this age group. The WU18 competition, sponsored by Etixx, looks by then very promising !

09-11 Antwerp Giants confirms their participation in MU18

Just back from his trip with the fanion team in Siberia for a Euro Cup game, the coach of the Antwerp Giants MY18 confirmed their registration for the Altia Belgacom X-Mas Tournament. This team might be the strongest Belgium U18 team, and is showing their potential with impressing results in the national competitions. 30-10 U14: Sélextion Régionale Pas de Calais U13 registers

Taken into account the difference in age groups in France, it’s difficult finding French teams for U14 and U16 competitions. This year, however, we are happy to announce the participation of the regional selection U13 of the Department “Pas de Calais” in the tournament. The participation of this selection fits perfectly into the project “Côte d’Opale – Nord –Pas de Calais – West Vlaanderen”, which is assisting high level athletes. Bienvenue !

30-10 Girls U18 roster almost complete: BK Petrzalka Bratislava (Slovakia) is team number 7

Slovakia will for the first time be represented on the Altia Belgacom X-Mas Tournament. The WU18 from Petrzalka Bratislava registered indeed as 7th participant in their category. Slovakia is being known as a very strong nation in women’s basketball, and the team from Bratislava counts 6 national team players. 25-10 England National Team Girls U18 registers for the tournament

Today, the England Basketball League confirmed the participation of their national team Girls U18 in the X-Mas tournament. This second national selection (Belgium registered earlier on) will of course be one of the interesting teams in the brand new competition, and a serious challenger for the finals. England is now presented by both its boys and Girls U18 teams in the Altia Belgacom X-Mas Tournament.

24-10 CBV Binnenland (Netherlands) fifth team to register in Girls U18

A new confirmation for the girls tournament during the Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament: CBV Binnenland, the club from Barendrecht, one of the leading programs in the Netherlands, confirmed tonight their participation in the event. We are very happy having them on board, and we hope to complete the roster in the coming days !

22-10 A first Israelian team in the tournament: Maccabi Ramat Gan

We are glad to announce that, for the first time, an Israelian club will be on the roster. Maccabi Ramat Gan, one of the leading youth programs in the country, will indeed participate in the BELGACOM U18 Invitational. The famous Israelian basketball is wel known in Belgium, mainly thanks to Maccabi Tel Aviv, one of the leading clubs in European basketball. Many other teams in the country are however also at a very high level, and we are convinced that the team from Ramat Gan will be one of the main attractions in the tournament.

22-10 Alba Berlin will be back in U14

Alba Berlin participated last year in the U14 age group, and obviously the were satisfied about their participation. The German top club, who played last year with a very young team, will be competing again in U14. Alba is yet another big name in European basketball that will represented in the X-Mas Tournament. 19-10 Belgium Girls U17 team confirm their participation

Excellent news coming from the Basketball League: the national team Girls U17 will participate in this year’s X-Mas Tournament. 19-10 A second Lithuanian team will participate: BC Gargzdai-Bremena confirms their registration

We are happy to announce the participation of yet another Lithuanian team in the X-Mas tournament. BG Gargzdai-Bremena will participate in the U18 event.
BC „Gargždai-Bremena“ is a professional Lithuanian basketball club, currently playing in NBL (second league) . BC „Gargždai-Bremena“ was founded in 2010 by the famous former national team point guard Marius Prekevicius. Knowing the reputation of the Lithuanian basketball, for sure a high level participant ! 19-10 Girls U18: an update

Registrations for the brand new girls tournament started rather slowly, but the last couple of weeks, we are making big steps forward. Months ago we had the first registration coming from the Netherlands: Grasshoppers. A week ago, we could add Blue Cats Ieper Belgium) to the participants list. Today, we could add the Belgian National Team U17 and Kangoeroes Boom (Belgium). In the coming days, we are awaiting confirmation of three national selections for the tournament: the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland showed their interest and will (hopefully) confirm by the end of the month

10-10 Possibly a first Swedish team in the Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament

We might have a Swedish participant in the Belgacom U18 Invitational. viking Solna showed indeed their interest in the last remaining spot in this competition. We would, of course, be happy with this Scandinavian participation, and we hope to be able to confirm their presence in a couple of days.

Union Rennes Basket, a cooperation between 2 clubs from the city of Rennes (Avenir de Rennes and Rennes Pôle Association) registered today in the Men U18 age group. 10-10 Amicale Steinsel registers in Men U16

Spartak Bertrange is no longer the only club from Luxemburg to participate in the  Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament. This year, we can welcome for the first time the team of BBC Amicale Steinsel, registered in Men U16. In the past, we had cery good experiences with Sparta Bertrange, and we are sure that with Amicale Steinsel, the other high level club in the country, the experiences will be the same. Breaking News: LKKA-Atletas Kaunas will be the seventh participant in the MU18 Belgacom Invitational

The organizers are very happy to announce that a top level Lithuanian team registered today for the main competition of the Altia Belgacom X-Mas Tournament. LKKA-Atletas Kaunas will indeed participate in the Invitational. They will compete with the national teams of Belgium, England and Switzerland, and the club teams BCM Gravelines, IBBA Berlin and Canarias Basketball Academy. Knowing the level of Lithuanian basketball, and the great players that were born in that country, we are sure to have another top level team in this competition.
 
Even more: they intend to bring also their professional main team, for playing some friendly games during the tournament, against division 1 teams. More news to follow soon !

05-10 Almonte eindhoven back in Kortrijk

The dutch team from Almonte Eindhoven confirmed today their participation in MU18. The registration of their MU16 team will possibly be confirmed later this week. Happy to have them on board, for the third consecutive time and looking forward to see them compete in the tournament !

05-10 Black Eagles Rosmalen will participate in all age groups Men

Earlier this week we could register the MU16 of Black Eagles Rosmalen. Today we were informed that we can add their MU18 and U14 to the participants list. The Black Eagles, participating for the third time in a row are warmly welcomed by the oranizers !

02-10 Three English national selection could be present at the tournament

The participation of the England Men U18 team in the X-Mas Tournament has been announced a while ago. This participation could be extended to other teams: the England Men U17 team showed interet in participating in the Men U18 Cup, and their is a good possibility that the Girls U18 team will also compete in the X-Mas Tournament. 02-10 Lithuania might be represented in the tournament

We still remember the victorious participation of Tornados Kaunas in the X-Mas Tournament 2009. We are by then very happy to announce that, this year again, some Lithuanian clubs are showing interest in participating in the tournament. 02-10 Black Eagles Rosmalen registers in U18

The Black Eagles are coming back to the tournament. For the 3rd time in row the Dutch club will be represented in Kortrijk. After a strong participation in the U16 age group last year, they will compete this year in the U18 age group. We warmly welcome them back in Kortrijk

02-10 Sparta Bertrange registers in Men U18

Sparta Bertrange (Luxemburg) will be represented for the fourth time on the X-Mas tournament. The club registered yesterday their U18 selection for the Men U18 Floralux Cup. We are happy having them on the participants list again.

02-10 Belgacom U18 competition open for club teams

The initial intention of the organizers was to limit the Belgacom U18 Invitational to national selections. However, as some high level European clubs, such as Gran Canarias and IBBA Berlin, showed their strong interest in participating in this tournament, it has been decided to change the concept. The competition will be played by both national teams and club teams, but will be limited to 8 participants. Games will still be played over full game length (4x10’). In doing this, the organizers aim at creating a very high level competition with 8 top level teams. The name of the competition will from now on be the “Men U18 Belgacom Invitational

01-10 Participation Belgian National Selections confirmed

Earlier this week, the participation of the national selections in the tournament has been confirmed. The Belgian National Team (BNT) U18 will participate in the Men U18 Belgacom Invitational. The BNT U16 will take the challenge to participate in the Men U18 Floralux Cup, while the Flemish U15 selection will participate in the Men U16 competition. The very likely participation of the girls selections will be confirmed in the coming days. The organizers of the Altia Belgacom X-Mas Tournament are of course very pleased with this extended participation of the national selections.

20-09 USK Prague a possible participant

Today we received the confirmation that USK Prague could be one of the participants in the U18 age group. This Czech team participated in the same competition in 2010 and finished 6th, but showed potential to be one of the competitors for the first place. The final confirmation depends upon the possible selection of the team for one of the qualification groups for the Nike Junior Euroleague, which could take place in the same period as the Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament. 20-09 Bavi Vilvoorde participates in U18 and U16

Bavi Vilvoorde is for sure one of the best represented clubs in the history of the Mas Tournament. This year again, their U18 and U16 teams will be present at the event. Bavi was successfull in the U14 competition during the last editions: 3rd in 2009 and 2nd in 2010. Traditionaly, several of their players are playing in the Flemish selections U14, U16 and U18. As these selections won the most recent editions of the U16 and U14 competitions, we can conclude that this club’s youth program is amongst the strongest in the country. We are, of course, very happy to have them participating again, and we are very curious if they will be able to celebrate their first victory in 2011. U16: Castors Braine registers

In the U16 group, we can announce the confirmed participation of Castors Braine. This Belgian club has been very present in the last editions of the Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament. In 2009, their U16 team was runner-up, and last year the ended on a very satisfying 3rd place in the U14 age group. This year again, they will be for sure a tough competitor and aiming at a first victory. Most probably, their U14 team will register for the tournament in the coming days. 18-09 Canarias Basketball Academy will participate in the Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament

We are glad to announce that the famous Canarias Basketball Acacdemy confirmed yesterday their participation in the 2011 Belgacom Altia X-Mas Tournament. They will compete in the Belgacom U18 cup.
Canarias Basketball Academy (CBA)is most likely the most famous youth basketball program in Europe. The goal at The CBA is simple: to develop the best basketball players in the world, at all levels.
The participation of this European top level team will most probably be the necessary trigger for attracting other high level European teams for the Belgacom U18 cup.

08-09 Boys U18: Eiffeltowers Den Bosch (Holland) registers

Today, we received the official confirmation that the MU18 from Eiffeltowers Den Bosch will participate in the 2011 tournament. This basketball school  (8 practices a week) participated last year in U16 and will be one of the very interesting teams in this year’s U18 category.
Den Bosch organises, by the way, from 28 till 30 December, the "Rinus De jong Invitational" tournament for MU18 and MU20. Some teams from the X-Mas tournament are also competing in this famous dutch tournament.

07-09 Melco Ieper and Blue Cats Ieper join the organisation of the X-Mas Tournament

Some days ago we announced that, from this year on, games will also be played in Ypres (Ieper). We can now officially announce that both leading clubs in this city, namely Melco (men’s basketball) and blue Cats (women’s basketball) have joined the organisation and will be part of the committee that organises the Belgacom Altia X-Mas tournament.

07-09 Floralux will remain the Men U18 Cup Sponsor

As in 2010, Floralux (www.floralux.be) agreed upon being the name sponsor of the U18 men’s tournament. We thank this well know provider of garden products for it’s confidence in our organisation and are looking forward towards this new partnership !

 

24-08 Breaking news: Ypres will be an additional location during the tournament

Basketbal Team Melco Ypres agreed upon being a new partner of the Altia X-Mas tournament. This growing tournament, hosting two new categories this year, is aiming at improving the quality of the game locations, and Ypres is an excellent opportunity. The basketball gym in Ypres is indeed top quality, as the city hosted for years a first division team. As travelling times between Ypres and the other game locations are very limited in time (less than 20 minutes), this is again another step forward. Teams will however not have to switch game courts during the day.

24-08 Nürnberger Basketball Club possibly participating in three age groups

The German Pro A Team from Nürnberg expressed their intention to participate in Men U18, U16 and U14 categories. This growing club has youth teams in the famous NBBL and JBBL, the highest categories in Germany, and could be another strong team on the X-Mas Tournament's roster. We warmly welcome them ! 22-08 An Wauters will lend her name to the Girls U18 MVP Award

An Wauters, multiple European player of the year and leading lady in women's basketball, accepted to lend her name to the MVP Award handed over to the best player in the 2011 Girls U18 competition. The organizers of the Altia X-Mas Tournament are thanking this famous player for her very important support to their event, and we are sure that this reward will be an addittional motivator for all participating players.

17-08 Belgacom will sponsor the Men U18 Tournament for National Teams

We are very happy to announce that BELGACOM accepted to sponsor the competition for national teams. 10-08 Berlin Süd will be back

The Boys Under 18 team of Berlin Süd was one of the big surprises last year, as they finished 4th in the very strong U18 age group. They announced earlier this week that they will be participating again this year. We gladly welcome them for the 3rd time on the X-Mas Tournament.

10-08 Leuven Bears registers in Boys U18

Leuven Bears, one of the prominent Belgian youth programs confirmed their participation in Boys Under 18. This club has been on the participants list since the first edition, and the organizers are very happy to have this Ethias League team participating again.

10-08 BC Apollo Amsterdam intends to participate in three age groups

Today, BC Apollo Amsterdam (the former Mosquitos and Lely) announced their intent to participate in Boys U18, Boys U16 and Boys Under 18. Formal confirmation to follow early September. This prominent Dutch club will be a tough challenger in all age groups, and we hope their participation will be officially confirmed in the coming weeks.

10-08 BCM Gravelines will participate again in U18

The famous "Centre de Formation" of Gravelines announced that they will participate again in the 2011 Altia X-Mas Tournament. Gravelines, one of the best known French formation centers ended up 3rd last year. They were the best club team in the U18 age group, as the first two places were taken by the national teams of Norway and Belgium. As the club teams will play in a separate competition this year, Gravelines will of course be one of the favourites.

09-06 Category U18 national teams: The Netherlands will most probably participate

Today, we were informed that the Dutch National Team Men U18 will most probably participate in the Altia X-Mas tournament 2011. The Netherlands participated in 2010 for the first time, and were only eliminated in the semi finals. Once their participation will be formaly confirmed, we will have another hard opponent for our Belgian National Team.

09-06 And what about the Belgians ?

We announced the likely participating in this year's X-Mas Tournament of several foreign teams. So what about the Belgian teams, one could ask. There will, of course, be several Belgian clubs participating, and we can at this moment announce the most likely participation of Falco Gent (Boys Under 18), Optima Jeugd Gentson (Boys Under 16) and Bavi Vilvoorde (Boys Under 18). The organizing clubs will, of course also participate!

09-06 New category: Girls Under 18

The organizers of the Altia X-Mas tournament decided to add a brand new category. For the first time, girls teams will be present at the tournament.

>From 26 till 28 December 2011, eight, twelve or sixteen girls teams Under 18 will compete. Although no formal recruitement has been done, we can announce at this stage that several teams announced their possible intent to participate: the Belgian or Flemish selection Under 18, the Dutch selection Under 17, several Dutch club teams, and even the East Coast Dunkeroos from.... Australia. More news about the tournament for girls to follow soon !

06-06 IBBA Berlin will most probably participate in three age groups

IBBA Berlin was last year one of the stronger teams in the U16 age group, and was ranked fourth after thrilling semi final and final games. In the German JBBL competition, the team reached this season the final Four !
The German club will announced some days ago their intention to participate this year in three age groups: U18, U16 and U14. We are sure that this club will be a huge challenger in every age group !
We are glad having them on the roster once again !

06-06 The first registrations for the 2011 X-Mas tournament have been approved.

The Dutch team Basketball Stars Weert participated in our 2010 tournament with their U14 team (7th place, after being second in their qualification group, won by the team that later won the tournament). This year, Weert will participate with three teams: U18, U16 and U14.

05-06 Altia Hotel remains the tournament sponsor in 2011

Altia Hotel, in Neuville en Ferrain, will be the X-Mas Tournament's main sponsor in 2011. Thanks to the excellent cooperation in 2009 and 2010, the tournament was able to host several teams in the outstanding accommodation of the Altia Hotel. This year again, Altia Hotel will be the central point for accommodation. We thank Mrs Els Delaere, the hotel director, for the trust she is showing in the organization of the Altia X-Mas Tournament 2011

Altia X-Mas Tournament 2011 - first news

The Altia X-Mas Tournament 2011 will take place on 26, 27 and 28 December. Locations will again be Kortrijk, Zwevegem and Wevelgem. Competitions wil be organized in 4 categories:
 
- U18 National teams: 8 teams.
- U18 club teams: 8 teams.
- U16 national and club teams: 16 teams
- U14 national and club teams: 16 teams
 
As you will notice, a brand new category was added, namely the separate competition for 8 national teams. For the time being, Belgium, England and Switzerland already formaly registered for the 2011 edition. Germany took an option on participation and contacts with other national federations are ongoing.
 
The organizers are also in contact with the organizers of the RDJ Invitional in Den Bosch, for coordinating the game plans of both tournaments. This in order to allow teams to participate in both events (and make it worth to execute a long trip).
